Thomas Karungu is a veteran Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in Energy & Petroleum, Infrastructure, Policy Formulation and Asset Valuation. Throughout his robust career, he has handled projects for the Ministry of Energy & Petroleum, Ministry of Industrialization, and the Ministry of Transport & Infrastructure.
Engineer Karungu graduated from The University of Nairobi with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering and Yokohama National University with a Masters of Philosophy in Infrastructure Management.
Previously, Engineer Karungu worked with the Ministry of Industrialization as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum as a managing professional’ He has held key administrative cadres in Energy policy formulation, Power projects appraisal and development, Monitoring and evaluation of power generation projects and the development and implementation of technical standards related to power generation and national power planning.
His particular areas of expertise include Inspection, assessment and valuation of electromechanical equipment and machinery, Design for manufacture and workshop fabrications and Project and works planning and estimation of costs.
In his capacity as director at Synergetic, Karungu oversees all mechanical engineering functions. In this role, he approves and coordinates projects undertaken by the mechanical engineering team.
